Challenge 1 Results

Hello, and welcome to Project GirlSense. This week, the contestants were prompted to create a costume for the local flower parade. Their costume was supposed to be for one of the performers in the parade. It's week one, so the judges and I were not too harsh, but beware, in weeks to follow, everything will change.
Please remember, as boring as it may be, to read EVERYTHING in all of the results posts because it may contain important information relevant to your success here on Project GirlSense.

So, let's get started.

In no particular order, here are the contestants' entries, followed by critiques by the judges.

Aqua: All the judges agreed that this was a little too simple, and you didn't grasp the main theme of the challenge. We all thought you could have added more decos, and could have been more creative. The challenge was to create a performer's outfit, not a summer-walk-in-the-garden look. We were expecting more pizazz! Maybe adding more decos or interesting cuts is what you might need to do for the next challenge. The whole outfit was pretty bland, and we know you could have put a little more effort into it. Although, one judge did love the little flower in the model's hand. :D

Swimmer: (Please, next time, go into paint and edit your print screen so there isn't a large white space around it. :D) Alright, the truth? This is simply brilliant. Although, one judge thought that at first glance, it looked a little too bulky and messy. However, when she gave it a closer look, she understood what you were trying to do. This was personally one of my favorites for this week. Great job. Next time, you might consider making the decos smaller for the arm shoulder thing, thus giving it a more sophistacated look. :D

Faboo: We were a little torn on this one. Some of us thought this was way too simple and didn't capture the theme well enough, while others thought the simplicity was good. Overall, it was a cute outfit, but quite bland. We recommend re-reading the challenge and really trying to, well, I guess 'over-do' it in order to meet our needs. We were hoping for a more festive entry, because it didn't exactly match the theme of a PERFORMER's outfit. Nonetheless, very cute entry.

Kitten: Ahh gal! LOL, how are we supposed to judge your fabulous entry if it's hard to see? xD okay, let's get to the judging. We all thought this was pretty rushed, and not much effort was put into it. The whole outfit looked as if you made it in just a couple of minutes, and we know you're a fab designer and you could have definitely taken more time. However, we LOVED the color combo, very cute! Again, like many others, the whole them wasn't captured too well.

Stars: Again, zoom in!!! LOL, we can't judge if we can't see! Okay, so to be honest with you...we absolutely loved this. Very cute idea, although the tights didn't exactly match. However, you would definitely stand out in a flower parade! Well done.

Lizzy: Wow. Simply, wow. This was hands down fabulous. GLAMOROUS idea, the whole outfit was beautiful. You did an outstanding job. The only thing that we were a little hesitant on was that it would've been really nice if you extended the swirls down onto the belly. Unfortunately, you used a restricted deco on the toe nails, so we had to dock points. Quite sad, actually. :(

Holli: Okay, at first, all the judges thought this was great. Wonderful shading and classic outfit...very cute. When we looked closer, however, we noticed that you completely bombed the main theme. None of us could tell that this was a costume for a perfomer on the flower parade. We cannot stress how important it is to read the challenges carefully. This caused a loss in points. However, we have to say this was beautiful, great job.

Mall: Beautiful. Really, this is honestly beautiful. Great idea with the vines and stuff. There were a couple things that the judges and I were concerned about:
1) The wig doesn't match the outfit, meaning, the wig is very fancy and formal, while the outfit is very delightful, if that makes sense...?
2) It's a little too classy for a performer in a flower parade.
Overall, this was fabulous. Next time, try using the WHOLE outfit to your advantage, as opposed to just the top.

Katy: Katy, we have to come out and tell you the truth..........this is fabulous! All the judges really loved the creativity and 'performer' flare to this! We can tell you put a lot of effort into both planning and creating this! I personally thought it had a very eccentric 'hippie' flare to it with the pants at the bottom...great job! The only thing was.....we couldn't take our eyes off of this! xD I would suggest, for next time, trying making the decos a little bit smaller to show the details.

Ange: Before we begin with the praises and such, I'd just like to note that the flower decos that you used were not allowed, which caused some points to be taken off. But don't worry, not too many! :P Okay, let's get started. The dress itself is very cute. I really liked the whole 'off-the-shoulder' idea, and the gold decos complimented the dress very nicely. The headband is a great accessory. However, the whole dress looked sort of plastered onto the model. This was due to the gold decos outflining the whole dress. Does that make sense? Like, in real life, you wouldn't see someone with decos/buttons/whatever outlining their outfit. Make sense? However, we really adore the color scheme with the pinks/reds and gold! Lovely!

ADC: ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM gal! xD please zoom in so we can see better! Okay, so here's the deal. We liked the overall idea of this, but we thought you could have moved the cut a little lower so we couldn't see the panties. :D And maybe added some opacity level to that? The flower tracing at the bottom is stunning, great job on that. However, we felt that the top part was done a little too quickly. The fact that the purse was dark didn't really make sense, because your outfit didn't have that color in it, but it complimented pretty well.

Chloe: We're going to start off by saying that we really loved this. The whole idea of having the flower creep on the side is really cute, and we can tell how hard you worked! It looks like it took forever to get that just right. However, we think that you could've made the shoes a little darker/brighter, because compared to your outfit, they look really light. You could've also added some jewerly (although it really isn't required) to spice up the outfit. However, overall, really really fab. :D

Rika: I've got to say gal, pretty cute entry! The color scheme is very cute! However, the outfit was pretty bland. We feel like you could've spiced it up by adding some additional decos at the top of the shirt and on the bottoms. We know you can do more, we've seen it before! :D

So, who stays, and who goes? Let's start.
