Challenge 2 Results

Welcome, gals, to Project Girlsense-week 2. *dun dun dun!* hahaha. Let's get started with the judging. We were a little more harsher, because it's one more step closer to the finals! This week's challenge required the designers to create the ultimate futuristic outfit that would be worn in 2100. AGAIN, many people failed to thoroughly read the challenge to grasp the main idea, thus points were taken off. SOOOO...please read your critiques and others' to learn from both your mistakes and your competitors so you don't do the same! The judges and myself put lots of time and effort into these comments, so please don't disregard them! In no particular order, here are the entries and critiques!

Holli: Oh, Holli, how to say this. We know you can design...it's evident in your fashions. You have really great shading techniques, and your outfits are very neat. However, we want bigger risks from you! The outfit as a whole looks really simple and isn't something you would be shocked to see. It's good, but as one judge put it, it requires more OOMPH! Unfortunately, we thought that you didn't grasp the main idea of the theme. You were supposed to create a futuristic outfit, and at first glance, this didn't whatsoever resemble that. However, it is a very clean cut outfit! We want MORE next week! GO CRAZY! This competition is to test how far you can go, and this definitely isn't the most you can do...we know it.

Kitten: My oh my, Kitten...you definitely showed us what you can do! We were really proud of how brave you were this week...you definitely brought it up a notch! However, there were a couple of things that we didn't especially like about this. It wasn't very clean cut, and the decos looked quickly put on. I suggest zooming in as far as possible, and making the decos small. This makes it look much much much more cleaner. The cuts at the bottom looked last-minute, as if you didn't know what else to add. The colors are nice, but it doesn't seem very futuristic. We feel as if you slightly over-did it here. It looks a litlte too cluttered. This outfit seems more fun and wacky (this would've been GREAT for the last challenge!) and less futuristic. The shoes also don't really go that well with the dress. You could've considered heels instead of slippers-it's a little too bulky. Despite those comments, we want you to know that we're really proud of your improvement from last week.

Lizzy: Before I start, just to give you an idea of what I'm going to tell you, I'd like you to know that you are one of the three gals that received a perfect score from me. This is truly BRILLIANT!!! I really flipped when I saw that, and all the judges really ADORED this! You're really bringing it to the competition! The only downside (yes, we had to find at least one xD) is that we thought maybe you could've made the color more silver-ish instead of yellow. However, it compliments the rest of the colors FABULOUSLY. I just want you to know that whatever happens, this is truly magnificent and you should know that you truly shined in this challenge.

Ange: ANGE IS BACK!!! There it is, gal! I knew you had it in you! This is really cute...very cute! We all knew you grasped the idea of the futuristic very well. There were only a few downsides to this outfit. First, The gold and silver do look futuristic, but we wish that you just stuck with one, because the gold and silver don't exactly match as well as we'd like. Maybe silver/black or gold/black would have worked better. Next, ALL judges were really confused about that blue hairpiece and purple eye accessory: here you are with your gold, silver, and black, and then all of a sudden you have BLUE and PURPLE smacked on. It really distracts from the whole beautiful outfit, and we wish that you stuck to your color scheme. Lastly, I thought that it wasn't as futuristic as I'd like, although you did grasp the idea of the challenge. Maybe a fingerless glove or something crazy like that. However, really well done this week!

Faboo: Not bad! We see what you were trying to do, but the way it came out wasn't as eye-popping as we'd like. The colors were nice and the outfit was very neat, but it looked a little too easy to make. One judge thought that the neck thing sort of threw the balance of the outfit off because you wouldn't normally see an addition like that to a dress that is cut from the top. The boots were fabulous! Another judge thought that the skirt part was a little too pretty and she would have preferred something to cover the bow and maybe cut the skirt close to the mannequin. We wanted a little more dangerous-ness from you, gal! Next week, be sure to show us how crazy you can get! ;)

Mall: Okay Mall, we know you are utterly amazing with shading your fashions and making them look tangible, but that's not exactly what we're looking for in this competition. Before I give you your critiques, here is my advice for you: incorporate your shading skills with crazy deco designs. Really show us what you can do. This dress is purely brilliant, but this looks like something you would wear to a huge occasion rather than something you would see a 2100 model wearing on the runway. I know it's especially hard to make fashions when you have your model chosen for you, but you perfectly executed this by choosing the colors that complimented the model perfectly. Just like last week, you played it pretty safe. Maybe a belt of some kind, or a little more design on the edges would've added that extra thing that we're looking for. The shoes are fabulous however, and you should know that the whole outfit is beautiful. One last thing for next week: close your eyes and click everywhere with decos...it seems you are very scared to do that. I dare you...let's see what happens. ;)

Pugz: Uh...can you say PERFECT SCORE?! Yes gal, you are the second competitor to recieve a perfect score from me! Only 3 gals have, and you are one of them! This is just perfect...really! One judge said that not only does it looks futuristic, it also looks super stylish! The goofy hair also adds such an incredible touch too! This is a little simple, but that is totally not noticeable because of the beauty of this design. How fantastic is this?! I mean really, the wig is perfect, the criss-crosses on the outfit is great, and GAH I'm just in love with this. The only thing that one judge pointed out was that you could've maybe thrown a pinch of red somewhere in the outfit just to compliment the hair. Again, whatever happens in the results, just know that this is phenomenal. :)

Katy: Before I start...I want to ask you a question, Katy gal. What do you think of when you hear the word 'future'? I think you can see where this is going. I have to tell you that this outfit is really beautiful and would have definitely gotten you far last week, but it's not fit for this challenge. The colors are too bright for the idea of 'futuristic'. One judge said that they didn't think the flowers fit because none of it says "FUTURE" except maybe the shirt because of the high collar. These colors are more 70-ish-80-ish, not 2100-ish. On the other hand, your effort does show through this outfit--we can all tell it took a while. I really wish that you had incorporated this with last week's design! Howevever, you've shown us last week and this week that you are a hard worker, and we're not ready to let go of you...yet. *muahahah* hahaha jk. xD

Stars: First, please only take print screens IN THE FDS. :) This prevents anyone from cheating. Not saying you did or anything! :D Okay, on to the judging. This looks dangerously the same as your entry for last week. I really thought at first that you had desinger's block or something, because it really did look almost exactly the same. Where's the pizazz? One judge thought that the dress looks really pretty and all, but it’s not so futuristic. It also looks really simple to make…just change the color of a certain stain multiple times and plant them around the edges of the dress. Also, the wig is very cool, but we were confused because of the black dot in the middle of it.

Chloe: Did someone say.......PERFECT SCORE?! Yep, you are one of the three gals who got a perfect score from me. The other judges' scores were nearly perfect for this! ALL judges thought that this was probably their favorite! The fabric is COMPLETELY amazing. Wow, Chloe gal,The fabric looks totally futuristic! The gloves add such a nice touch to it too! The shoes are also fabulous! The only very tine-eensy-winsy thing that was a little out of place was the criss-cross metallic things: those could've been cut a little better, maybe next time use a cutting tool and cut off the things hanging off the side. But that's a really small fixable problem. Just one thing to tell you: Keep bringing this to the competition, and you're on your way to the finals!

Rika: This is a pretty outfit, but just as I said with Katy, did you really understand the challenge? You were supposed to create a futuristic outfit, but instead you gave us an elegant outfit. Not exactly what we're looking for. An important part of the challenge is to know what you are designing for. However, it is a really nice outfit! It's good, it looks nice. It's actually a pretty safe design compared to what the others were doing. We really wish you did more to it though, to prove that you understood the challenge and were a hard worker.

Swimmer: Before we begin, just a reminder, last time you had a small print screen but the actual file was huge...as you can see the comments are squished to the side because I can't make it any bigger. Please edit your print screens in paint so that they are a reasonable size. :) Okay, now, this was really cute! Very cute outfit that fits the theme well. The face mask is very cute, too! We can tell that you put a lot of work into this and it turned out great! The shapes are REALLY cool! It must have taken a while. The only thing that bothered us were the plain sleeves at the top. It was a lot of room, and you could have used it to wow us even more than you already did. One judge said that they really didn't like that awkward cut on the bottom between the legs. It would have been better to either cut it zig zag or leave it straight. Maybe also making the fabric shiny or something would've made it more eye-catching. But overall, really cool! Great job!
